AFTER 11 YEARS A WOMAN IS AT THE FRONT OF THE SUPERINTENDENCE OF SOLIDARITY ECONOMY

Bogota, July 26, 2013. With extensive experience in the public sector, particularly in administrative areas took possession the new Superintendent of the Solidary Economy, Olga Lucía Londoño Herrera; to the Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Mauricio Cardenas Santamaria.

It is the second time that a woman serves as Superintendent of the Solidary sector. The first woman in the charge was the Elvia María Mejía Fernández, between the years 2001 and 2002.

Londoño Herrera is a native of Medellin, Antioquia; public administrator and specialist in public government. Was the leader of the program Administrative Unit of the Mayor of Medellin, in the Department of planning; advisory with functions of coordinator of the Presidential Agency for the Social Partnership and International Cooperation; Manager  Administrative and financial Assistant of Urban Development Company; head of the Administrative Unit of the Secretariat of Environment of Medellín; Chief of Bureau Advisor of Internal Control of the General Contraloría de Medellín; General Secretary and Secretary of the Council of Medellín; between other charges.

During the ceremony of possession, the new official stressed the commitment to the National Government to include within their public policies to the solidary sector: "solidary figure is the great economic and social alternative of millions of Colombians because it generates employment, financial support to work in productive projects, reduce poverty and improve the living conditions and development opportunities for the regions. In addition, it generates a sense of belonging that do not have other sectors of the economy in the country, since their managers are its owners".

The new Superintendent of the solidary economy is co-author of the book: "Internal Control a management tool". Received awards as best officer of the Council of Medellín in 1989 and as best officer of the Treasury of Revenue in 1993.
